Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (MARPE) is a recent non-surgical treatment for transverse maxillary deficiency. This study investigated the effects of MARPE in non-growing patients on the midfacial soft tissue effects. 3D facial images and were acquired before, immediately after and 1 year after expansion. 3D distance maps were created by superimposition of the images and five soft tissue regions were evaluated for 29 patients with a mean age of 25.9 years old. During this lecture, the results will be presented.
