Simplicity is a complexity resolved. Digital planning is an important tool to plan the resolution of complex cases where different problems are strictly related. It is necessary to follow a hierarchy of decisions specific to the case resolution:
1) Dental position is design at first in order to allow possible changes of the dental form and size with minimally invasive restorative technique. 2) Ortho-driven digital set-ups allow us to define the proper biomechanics with fixed appliances or aligners and to decide if the possible restorations can be made at the beginning or at the end of the orthodontic treatment. 3) Prostho-driven digital set-ups allow us to fine tune the orthodontic finishing to allow the best dental position to maximise the restorative result.
This course will show how digital planning can be used in complex cases from orthodontics to orthofacial dentistry, to answer the legitimate requests of the patient.
Learning Objectives:
After this session, attendees will be able to:
Use ortho-driven and prostho-driven set-ups for interdisciplinary planning.
Recognize how minimally invasive restorative solutions allow the patient to transition from adolescence to young adulthood.
Outline why orthofacial surgery and dentistry are elective and not elite treatments to answer the legitimate requests of our patients.
