Dr. Julie McCray received her Bachelor of Science with a major in Biomedical Engineering in 1983 from the University of Iowa, and she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry in 1987. Her Master of Science in Dentistry was obtained from St. Louis University in 1989. She became Board Certified February 2001 by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. McCray was a private orthodontic practice owner in St. Louis, MO from 1989-2017. From 1999-2017, she was a Part-time Assistant Clinical Professor at the Center for Advanced Dental Education, Saint Louis University (SLUCADE).
Since 2018, she has been an Associate Professor and Clinic Director in the Department of Orthodontics, at SLUCADE. She still goes to the private practice now named Amazing Smiles Orthodontics one day per week.
Through the university, to date she has served as Thesis Chairman for 6 residents, and on the Thesis Committee for 52 residents. She is on the selection committee for the New Resident Match. She teaches several classes and follows cases in the clinic, as well as does screenings and assignments of clinic patients, coordinates the schedule of part-time faculty.
Dr. McCray is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Midwest Society of orthodontists, the Missouri Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Orthodontic Education and Research Foundation.
