Although the orthodontic profession has changed significantly since 1974, there are lessons to be learned from days past. The fundamental values of compassion, listening to and respecting the opinion of the patient, commitment to high integrity, and commitment to excellence are as important today as they were 50 years ago. Advances in technology have introduced different modalities of treatment (clear aligners, TADs, Herbst, Carriere, etc.) to streamline care and offer patients choices in their treatment. Technology has also offered opportunities to communicate with patients remotely, by cell, Zoom, FaceTime, email and text messages. With the ever-evolving world of technology, most orthodontists are providing high tech treatment. The question is... have we lost the high touch in our race to stay ahead of our competition? Debbie will share timeless tips and pearls to help integrate technology with a high touch approach that is fundamental to the practice of compassionate, ethical and patient relationship-centered care.
