Aligners are most commonly associated with non-extraction treatment. Of course, this leads to dental expansion in many instances when patients present with crowding. Dr. Huang's lecture will address changes in alveolar bone height and thickness when using aligners for dental expansion. He will report on studies conducted at UW, as well as other studies reported in the literature, and illustrate concepts with treated cases.
Learning Objectives:
After this session, attendees will be able to:
Identify the literature that pertains to expansion with aligners and any associated alveolar bone changes.
Understand the changes that may occur when aligners are used to produce dental expansion.
Better propose treatment options to your patients who present with crowding.
