Clear aligners are commonly thought of as a potential treatment modality for simple malocclusions only. Many clinicians still feel that complex cases are beyond the realm of aligner capability. This presentation discusses how to incorporate Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) with clear aligners to augment anchorage in complex malocclusions. Diagnosis, treatment planning, and biomechanics will be emphasized in the execution of the treatment plan. This will include clinical cases such as correcting occlusal cants, posterior intrusion to create posterior occlusal clearance and application in severe Class II and Class III open bite cases.
Learning Objectives:
After this session, attendees will be able to:
Integrate TADs with clear aligner treatment where additional anchorage requirements are needed.
Correct maxillary occlusal cants with clear aligners and TADs.
Combine AP protocols with vertical protocols, augmented with TAD anchorage, to correct severe open bites in Class II and Class III malocclusions.
