Aligners traditionally has been the solo appliance for patients seeking clear aligner therapy. Expansion of choices in aligner systems on the market promoted a re-evaluation of how orthodontists can use aligners to render care. One of these approachs would be the hybrid or combination appliances treatment plan. Specifically, the orthodontist intentionally combines aligners with fixed appliances as part of treatment planning process. This treatment strategy is not new yet it has been often used after a failed attempt to treat with aligners. This presentation will review a new take on hybrid and combination appliance treatment approach. Additionally, an efficient framework for this treatment approach will be presented.
