New technology matters less than the professional background of the orthodontist. Patients vary with regard to age, function and genetics and despite innovative, new hi-tech products, we still have to rely on our professional background and our knowledge of bone and the periodontal ligament as these are the tissues we are trying the influence when inserting an appliance. Patients with degenerated dentitions should be treated by an interdisciplinary, not multidisciplinary, approach.
