Treatments of Class II malocclusions frequently present challenges when deciding between extractions, non-extraction or a surgical approach. It is imperative to consider the possibility of adverse profile changes and smile esthetics. Orthodontic treatment in the adult population offers even more challenges because of the expected soft tissue changes as the result of aging. Together we will visit the traditional options while exploring the possibility of innovative treatment alternatives to obtain an adequate, esthetic, and responsible result for our patients.
Learning Objectives:
After this session, attendees will be able to:
Offer alternatives to decide when it is feasible to provide a non-extraction treatment approach while achieving an acceptable result in a growing patient.
Offer alternatives to decide when it is feasible to provide a non-extraction treatment approach while achieving an acceptable result in a non-growing patient.
Offer treatment goals and mechanics to minimize soft tissue changes as a side effect when extractions are the best treatment option.
